Togo Clean Cookstoves
Efficient stoves in rural Togolese homes that burn far less wood, easing firewood pressure on 250,000 hectares of local forest and saving each family about US$250 a year in fuel.

Integrity
Clean cooking is one of the most direct ways to improve daily life for rural families, and its benefits are easy to see and to measure.
Draft profile, pending review
-
Additional
Families could not afford efficient stoves without the carbon finance that subsidises them.
-
Permanent
Each stove is tracked and its use monitored, so savings are counted only while it is in use.
-
Measured
Fuel use is surveyed in real homes and checked by independent auditors under Gold Standard rules. Carries the ICVCM CCP label and is CORSIA eligible.
-
People and nature
Less smoke in the home, less time gathering wood, about US$250 a year saved per family, and 250,000 hectares of local forest under less pressure.

What the project does
Most rural families in Togo cook over an open fire, indoors. The project has produced and distributed 100,000 efficient cookstoves, which burn about a sixth of the wood an open fire needs. Kitchens fill with less smoke, families spend about US$250 a year less on fuel, and the pressure on 250,000 hectares of local forest falls.
The project is certified by Gold Standard (GS12069), carries the ICVCM Core Carbon Principles label and is eligible under CORSIA, the aviation scheme. It runs from 2023 to 2038.
